I am really starting to like Marian Keyes. I trusted her enough to stick with this book, even though you really don't find out what the heck is going on until 150 pages in. But it was worth the wait. I don't want to give anything away, but I felt satisfied, if not sad, after reading.

FINALLY! A break from my book rut. I really enjoyed this book. Wynter's husband decides that he no longer wants to be married to her and becomes a complete ass. In order to cope, Wynter begins working in a bakery, baking bread over night and starting a new life. I am a sucker for books like this, especially ones that involve baking.

This was a real disappointment. I loved Garden Spells and this was nothing like it. Josie hides food in her closet. She also finds a person living in her closet. She loves her mailman but her mom is a psycho. The end.

I listened to this, and I am wishing that I read it. It is about the German invasion of the island of Guernsey and what people did to survive. It was touching, and I would recommend reading it.

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith


My rating: 1 of 5 stars
I may be jaded because a) I listened to this rather than read it and 2) I was on a miserable drive. But I hated it. I hated how the author had to use the entire name of each person every single time they mentioned each person. It read like a bad soap opera, and none of the cases seemed related. Like you didn't have to tune in every week because it will be completely unrelated.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

I have heard so much about this book, and I was not disappointed. The story is told from three perspectives: Skeeter, a rich white woman who is different from the rest of the rich white girls, Aibileen, a woman who has been a slave her whole life, and her friend, Minny, a loud-mouthed slave who can't hold down a job. I didn't necessarily think this book was groundbreaking or as hyped as everyone says, but I really enjoyed it and didn't want to put it down.

So so stupid. I am not going to give it a rating because I am assuming if you get this book you are looking for exactly what it gives you. I just had to find a book with "mankind" in the title for the challenge.
