Capital Crimes by Jonathan Kellerman


My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This was two novellas in one, both standard Kellerman. I have missed his writing. All new characters except brief cameos in each. In the first story, a lesbian politician is gunned down. I had a hard time keeping characters straight. The second story is about a murdered jazz musician. I liked that one a little more.

The White Queen by Philippa Gregory


My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This story is actually about the Plantagenets, a ruling group before the Tudors. The main thing this book did was really further my disgust of early England and how people can be executed or banished for no apparent reason and how the throne can be ripped from anyone at a moment's notice. I didn't dislike this book, but I wasn't as interested in it as I was with the Tudor series.

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

I watched Angels and Demons a couple of days before I read this, and to be honest, it made me kinda sick of Robert Langdon. But I was pleasantly surprised over TLS. I know it has been getting mediocre reviews, but I found myself really wanting to finish it. The story this times centers around the Free masons and takes place in Washington, DC. I did not see the ending coming at all.

Wishin' and Hopin': A Christmas Story by Wally Lamb

I love Wally Lamb. And that is why I can't give this book a higher rating. The story is about a boy named Felix and it focuses on his schooling and subsequent Christmas play. Sure, it's mildly entertaining, but I just thought it was a waste of Lamb's talent. I want another I Know This Much is True.

I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell by Tucker Max

I knew what I was getting into when I bought this book, and I was okay with that. But honestly, I found Tucker Max super annoying and conceited. Halfway through the book I just wasn't feeling it. But then I got to the story about the hotel lobby. Oh MY God. I couldn't stop laughing. So some stories were hilarious, but some were eh. If you are looking for a book that is degrading to women, I thought The Lie was better.
