My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I read this because everyone and their mother raves about it. I don't really like fantasy books but everyone had such wonderful things to say, so I figured I would try it. Dumb move.
I found very little payoff to this book. It was 700 pages of questions with very few answers. It took me forever to get through because of the different terms in this world and just because I found it slow going. I enjoyed hearing of Kvothe's struggles as far as his family and his schooling but I was sick of Deena and her selfish ways, sick of dragons and other mystical creatures, sick of trying to figure out the point of it all. It felt like all set up for the rest of the series and nothing to keep me satisfied from this book itself. I will not be reading the rest of the series.
