If it was possible to give this book 4 and a half stars, I would. I tend to love all books that deal with dystopian societies. Offred is a handmaid who once lived a regular life. Women's rights were first taken away through money, then jobs, then freedom. Women are no longer allowed to read. There are wives, who are the socialites, Marthas who are the housekeepers, and then the handmaids whose sole job is to produce children. All basic rights are taken away and the handmaids must produce a child, or face the consequences.

I wish I could explain it in a way that does the book justice. My only complaint is the ending. I really like knowing what happened in a clear-cut way, and this ending confused me a little.

I just wasn't charmed by this book. 980 Park Avenue is for Manhattan's elite. Each chapter is about one of the particular residents. Overall, I didn't care much about any of them. I had a hard time remembering how each person was related and I just wasn't impressed by the characters.

I was always told that Laurie Notaro was really funny and I thought her titles sounded good. I have to say I was a little disappointed. I was expecting Jen Lancaster, and I don't think the humor was there as much. Although I did appreciate several of her stories, namely the ones about cruising and dessert, I don't know that I will be reading any more of her books.

Kate is an unpopular girl who has few friends. This changes when Tully moves in across the street. The girls quickly become inseparable and their bonds go through 30 years of ups and downs. I found several of the relationships in this book frustrating. I really think Tully treats Kate like crap most of the time. And I hate the way Johnny is in the middle of the two of them constantly. But by the book's end, I really felt their friendship was true.

After hating the previous book I read, I was skeptical about grabbing a random book off of my bookshelf. Especially this one, since I hated my other attempt at Cecelia Ahern and the movie looked pretty cheesy. But I was pleasantly surprised.
At the beginning of the book, Holly is mourning the death of her husband, Gerry. She has no job, hardly any money, and no real purpose in life anymore. In short, it is the story of her finding her way. I was a little turned off by the eventual resolution of her love story, but other than that, I really enjoyed this book.

Ugh. This book was so bad. I was really happy to look at the reviews and see several 1's. I spent $3 on this book at a yard sale, which is more than I have ever paid for a book. I found the whole story D-R-E-A-D-F-U-L. I know that it was tongue-in-cheek but holy hell, the characters were so annoying. With their constant whining and bragging and money spending. I had absolutely no interest in any of the characters and I am upset that I bought Debutante Divorce.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

It is books like this that make me love reading. In the 24 hours since I have finished this book, I keep thinking about it and thinking I can't wait to keep reading. And then I remember that I finished it and I will have to wait at least another year to find out what happens!I don't want to spoil anything so I will keep this review short. It was just as great as The Hunger Games. My only problem was the ending. Even though HG is the first book of the trilogy, it ends in a neater way than CF. CF leaves you wanting more immediately which is a good thing I guess, but so frustrating!
